Who are we?
-We are a registered non-profit 501c3.
-This will be our 20th year. In 19 years, we’ve raised over $720,000 for local children’s charities.
-Last year we raised a record $70,001 in 1 month.
-We typically have anywhere from 50-75 guys growing mustaches.
-These are the charities we currently support- JDRF, Make-A-Wish Eastern NC, The Carousel Center, The Boys & Girls Club, The Miracle League, DREAMS of Wilmington, Camp Schreiber, Masonboro.org, NourishNC, Communities In Schools-Cape Fear, The Children’s Museum, and Ocean Cure.
Here’s how it works.
-We get clean-shaven on SHAVE DAY and then grow corner to corner MUSTACHES ONLY for 1 month while trying to raise as much money as possible to help local children’s charities. That’s it, pretty simple. The mustache is a great way to bring attention to what we’re doing. You’ll be able to accept online donations through your own site you set up (step by step directions are on our site at m4k-ilm.org), cash or check (checks are made out to Mustaches For Kids-Wilmington, NC). For those who want to donate a check to you, you can tell them that in January or February, they’ll receive a receipt for tax purposes in the mail mailed to the address on their check.
-We meet once a week during November (locations below) where you can turn in any cash or checks, get your updated mustache photo taken, and enjoy a night hanging out with some food and beverages with the group. The weekly events are completely optional so don’t feel like you have to be there. We have a lot of fun though and family, friends, the public are welcome at all the events.
-At the end of the month, we have the STACHE BASH. This is a mustache-themed costume party (think Ted Lasso, Tom Selleck, and any other famous person with a mustache you can think of) where we announce individual awards, the real estate contest winner, our total amount raised, and have a good time. The bash is Friday 12/01/23 at The Palm Room. Again, the public is welcome so invite as many as you want.
Where do we meet?
-For the first time ever, SHAVE DAY is on a Thursday instead of a Tuesday. Shave Day is Thursday 11/02/23 at Wilmington Brewing Company in the new, really cool building. Start time is 7:00pm, but you can show up whenever. Show up clean-shaven ready to grow a mustache. Wilm Brew is brewing a special beer called Shave Day IPA with a portion of the proceeds going to M4K.

Rules
-Mustaches only and they can only be from corner to corner. We have a Mustache Ref that will call you out for mustaches going past the corners and stubble on the rest of your face, so shave your stubble before you come to the weekly stops or run the risk of being called out.
-Have fun! We have a great time doing this and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. But we are very serious about trying to help local kids because that’s what this is all about.
